Gallery Of Instructional Strategies & Technologies (GIST)

What is GIST? GIST is an online gallery of innovative ideas and submissions used to engage students and improve student learning both online and in the classroom. Contributions to GIST are submitted by the faculty and staff at Georgia State University. The gallery has two main purposes: (1) to recognize faculty and staff achievement in the areas of teaching and learning, and (2) to provide others with examples of instructional submissions and how faculty are using technology online or in the classroom.

According to Dictionary.com, a definition of GIST is “the central idea; the essence.” Synonyms for GIST include: bearing, heart, idea, significance, soul, substance, summary and tenor.

We hope that visitors to this site will find the same “heart and soul” in the work presented as is consistently demonstrated by the faculty and staff of Georgia State.
