All research at Georgia State University (GSU) that involves animal subjects must be reviewed and approved in accordance with federal law and GSU policy. GSU's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is charged with overseeing compliance with these federal regulations. See the IACUC Policies and Procedures Manual located on the University Research Services and Administration web site.
Rationale or Purpose
The goal of these regulations is to ensure the safety, respect, and dignity of animal subjects involved in scientific research, and is a cooperative effort between the IACUC, IACUC Compliance Officer, Principal Investigators (PI), laboratory staff, and animal care staff.
